A Sensual Spritz Of Floral Water (Video)

September 14, 2015

Hey-oh! I made a video!

Don’t pee your pants though, it’s just a short teeny clip of me spritzing some floral water on my face.

Floral Water

If it looks like I’m having an intimate experience with my bottle of floral water in the video… well, it’s because I am.

Goodeboxe December 2013

The December 2013 Goodeboxe

December 12, 2013

YUM. That’s the unifying theme of this month’s Goodeboxe.

Every product was chosen with sensuous self-satisfaction in mind.

The curators of Goodeboxe nodded in acknowledgement to the Holiday season. Then cheerfully put together a box of “pure indulgence with zero guilt.”

Goodeboxe December 2013

Every product was chosen to stimulate, soothe, and titillate the senses.

Sweetriot Nibs

1) Sweetriot – Dark Chocolate Covered Cacao Nibs.

YUM! Tasty, anti-oxidant packed, fairly traded and only 1 calorie per “peace.” Comes in this small reusable tin can.

Inside, there was a little piece of paper with my “fortune.” Kind of like a fortune cookie.

Maya Angelou

[Good quote, but I’m pretty sure it’s spelled Maya AngeloU]

Sweetriot sources their chocolate only from farmers in Latin America so that you can enjoy chocolate that’s “sweet for the world & sweet for you too!”

An upgrade from the Ricola cough drops of last month.

Deep Steep - Candy Mint Foot Stick.

2) Deep Steep – Candy Mint Foot Stick.

This smells so YUM!

But what if, in an absent-minded moment, you use this on your foot and then accidentally take it to your mouth? And then lick it?! That would happen to me.

This is a festively hydrating stick that you can use for your heels and cuticles. The peppermint and spearmint essential oils works to refresh and promote increased circulation, while cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil & beeswax provides softness and healing.

I love the roll-on stick form that this product comes in. Just be sure to clean your feet first…

Lotus Wei - Infinite Love Mist & Inner Peace Mist

3) Lotus Wei – Infinite Love Mist & Inner Peace Mist.

I have been obsessed with aromatherapy in the form of spritzers and mists!

My greatest love of all is fresh rose floral waters in a chilled spritzer bottle.

But these mists by Lotus Wei have taken me deeper into the world of aromatherapy mists and sprays. YUM!

The Infinite Love Mist is made from the exotic blend of wild fireweed, Hong Kong orchid, pink magnolia and other aromatic plants “to dissolve irritation, codependency, past trauma & hard heartedness.”

The Inner Peace Mist is made from pink lotus, arctic lupine & red hibiscus, just to name of the flowers which work together “to dissolve high levels of stress, anxiety, lack of feeling supported & heart palpitations.”

Choose your flower

Because these mists mainly contain plant and flower essential oils, they are noticeably stronger than floral waters.

During times of stress, you can mist these above and around your face, on your pillows, sheets, office space, friends, loved ones, etc.

Hip E Chick - Winter Wonderland Soy Candle

4) Hip E Chick – Winter Wonderland Soy Candle.

This is a 100% hand poured pure soy wax and essential oil candle. Scented with a blend of Mexican wild greens, fruits & poinsettia.

The smell is soothing, though slightly too faint for me to cry YUM!

But you can be at ease knowing that this candle by Hip E Chick is lead free and devoid of synthetic dyes or additives.

Shea Radiance - Ultra Rich Shea Butter Cream

5) Shea Radiance – Ultra Rich Shea Butter Cream.

This is a rich and decadent body butter. The main ingredient is shea butter which is healing and beneficial for all skin types, even oily and blemish prone skin. And ideal for chronically dry, sun damaged, or eczema prone skin.

The smell is sweet and spicy and just YUM!

When you apply it, the texture is thick and feels a little sticky. But it absorbs quickly.

And the yummiest part is how long my skin feels soft and velvety.

This body butter is great for combating winter’s drying assault on the skin!

This month’s Goodeboxe was quite a treat!

Every product offered some unique and titillating delight to the senses. Titillating! That’s not a word you can just toss around all the time.

The winning product of this box is the Ultra Rich Shea Butter Cream by Shea Radiance. The cream is divinely moisturizing. And the brand’s mission includes the promotion of sustainable development for women-led cooperatives in West Africa.

Which makes this product both luxurious and a thoughtful gift to give this Holiday season!!

Shea Radiance is currently offering a 20% promotion throughout their online shop. So get on it!

BareMinerals Ready SPF 20 Foundation

Product Review: BareMinerals Ready SPF 20 Foundation

May 10, 2013

What makes mineral makeup so great is not so much the natural minerals that it contains, but rather, all the other ingredients that are left out.

Because it does not contain preservatives, fragrance, and chemical dyes, mineral makeup is suitable for people who suffer from skin sensitivities.

It is also oil-free and made up of inorganic minerals, which means there is less potential for bacteria growth. So mineral makeup is especially useful for people with acne-prone skin.

Most importantly, mineral makeup provides a wide spectrum of UVB and UVA sun protection.

The main ingredients in mineral makeup are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide—which are physical sunscreens that provide broad-spectrum sun protection against UVA and UVB rays. But I’ll make a special note on that later.

Although there are many companies today who carry their own line of mineral makeup, I have a great affinity for Bare Escentuals because it was one of the original, if not the first, cosmetic company to bring out and popularize mineral makeup in the 70s.

I’ve been using Bare Escentuals’ bareMinerals Ready SPF 20 Foundation for over two weeks now. And I’ve got to say…

This powder foundation is ZE BEST I’VE EVER HAD!

BareMinerals Ready SPF 20 Foundation

The powder: A solid, pressed powder that provides medium to full coverage and wide spectrum protection against the sun (SPF 20).

The Ready foundation comes in a wide variety of shades, so it’s easy to find a color that perfectly suits your skin tone.

I use the R330
color, for tan skin with yellow-olive undertones.

Bare Escentuals claims that wearing this foundation can increase hydration levels in the skin up to 108% after 12 hours of wear, due to their SeaNutritive Mineral Complex formula that contains humic acid and mineral-encapsulated glycerin.

How To Use: I use a kabuki powder brush to apply this powder in sweeping, circular strokes. And that has always given me a smooth finish. There is a bareMinerals Precision Brush that you can buy (at 28 euros) with this foundation. Though I’ve read that applying this with a foundation sponge works just as well.

My Experience: This powder glides on like silk. It blends well and provides excellent coverage. You can easily layer on where you need more coverage. It’s a very light powder, you can’t see it at all! There’s no cakeyness, or powder settling in creases. And a little goes a long way for covering blemishes.

The Result: A natural, glowy, dewy and even complexion that lasts for hours and hours.

I can’t say that using this foundation increased the level of hydration on my face. But it does help retain moisture for areas on my face that tend to dry out.

What I Like About It:
– Smooth, luminous finish
– The resulting look is very subtle and natural
– Great, long-lasting coverage
– My skin can breathe and feel comfortable
– Provides protection against the sun
– Easy to re-apply (for sun protection purposes)
– Clean and simple ingredients
– Simple packaging

What I Don’t Like About It:
– Opening the container is a bit tricky
– It would be great if they could make the packaging re-fillable to limit the impact on the environment

How Much: 28,00€

Would I Buy It Again: YESSSS. It’s a bit pricey, but as I said, a little goes a long way. And the resulting look is just flawless. So this will probably be my favorite powder foundation for a while.

Ingredients: Boron Mitride, Titanium Dioxide, Octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, glycerin, magnesium silicate, nylon-12, humic acids, rosa canna fruit oil, jojoba esters, corallina officanilis extract, Lecithin, Betain, Algae Extract. May contain (+/-): Mica, Zinc Oxide (CI77947), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI77891).

Closing Thoughts: With so many shades to choose from, it’s better to go out to a store and be color matched in person than buying this online.

Also, be aware that in order to be completely protected from the sun, you’d have to put on layers and layers of this stuff on your face. This is true for pretty much all foundations that claim to protect you from the sun. So if that’s not the kind of look you’re going for, then I suggest wearing a moisturizer with SPF underneath the powder.

There’s so much to be said about sunscreen and SPF in products. But that’s a subject that we will revisit in future posts.

What about you? Have you tried this product before? What is your current favorite foundation?
