Oh, The Places You’ll Go! Road Trip To Amsterdam.

May 4, 2013

I’m still beaming from the road trip I just came back from!

Driving around in a car feels like absolute freedom. If you can’t remember the last time you went on a road trip, then it’s been much too long and you should go on one!

Our driving route took us out of Paris, through the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of France, into Bruges in Belgium, and into Amsterdam for three days.

Then, we drove back down through Gent, with a stay in a little deserted beach town in Belgium called De Panne. We laughingly joked that the town should have been called En Panne (meaning, busted/out of order).

Everything about Amsterdam seemed so new and different for me. Honestly, I went there having no idea of what to expect. Which is sometimes the best way to travel.

Of course,Β Queen’s Day in Amsterdam was stark raving mad!! It may perhaps have been the biggest party I’ve ever seen.

I did set up my goods on the street. I think people were more interested in buying beers than cosmetics. But nevertheless, it was a great experience! And I’m sure with more experience, I’ll get better about my sales pitch πŸ˜‰

I saw bikes, bikes, bikes! Everywhere bikes! And beautiful canals and boats. And great sunlight.

The vibe in Amsterdam is just so chill. During Queen’s Day, there were lots of people selling their old things. Like clothes!

I felt like I was in garage sale heaven. A girl ended up just giving me an orange Zara coat, and I bought a hardly used Miu Miu bag and a round knitted hat.

Oh the things that I saw!

But sometimes, it’s better to let photos speak for themselves πŸ™‚

I love my new Miu Miu bag!! Haven’t thought to take photos of it yet though. A show and tell post might be in order soon πŸ˜€

LOL stop making fun of Belgium :p Isn’t Brugge pretty? It’s a bit like an oversize Disneyland, but because I don’t live there, I get a kick every time I go!

The garage sale looks like fun, and you were really lucky with the weather (for the most part, right?)! I haven’t been to Amsterdam for years. It’s probably not my favorite city ever, but I get a buzz out it πŸ™‚

Lol, I’m so glad you mentioned how Bruges kind of resembles an oversized Disneyland. Or at least one of those little towns that Disney tries to recreate.

Yeah, we were quite lucky with the weather throughout the whole trip!! I liked Amsterdam, but I was just impressed overall with the beauty of Netherland and Belgium’s countrysides.

A road trip to Amsterdam would be so fun! How long was the drive? I’ve taken the train between Paris and Amsterdam twice but I would love to see more of a scenic route. Man I’m jealous of your life!

If you were to do a straight shot drive from Paris to Amsterdam, it takes around five and a half hours. Haha, don’t be jealous! It sounds like you’ve done your fair share of traveling too!!

We just came back from Brussels which we hated… should actually have gone to Amsterdam!!! πŸ™‚
    Thanks for this lovely post!
    See you soon! xoxo

Oh no! Too bad about Brussels. We were trying to decide between Bruges and Brussels, but ended up going to Bruges because it was closer to the coast. Yes! See you soooon! πŸ˜‰
